Meet some of the makers
Meet some of the makers behind the Southern Highlands.
From cool-climate winemakers and small-batch distillers to bakers, cheesemakers and growers, these are the producers who give the region its flavour.

Mike & Katrina
Dawning Day Wines is a small, family-run micro-vineyard tucked away in the village of Exeter in the Southern Highlands, where cool-climate Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Gamay thrive. Here, Mike and Katrina have poured a 20-year dream into a place that feels like a home away from home, whether you’re calling in for a tasting by the fire or staying in their architect-designed barn overlooking the vines.
Handcrafted wines, house-made pickles, hot sauces and limoncello, all made on site, round out a visit that’s as thoughtful as it is delicious.

Diego & Yulia
Baked in Berrima is an artisan bakery tucked beneath Mrs Oldbucks Pantry in historic Berrima, where the ovens turn out golden croissants, sourdough, brioche and generous, rustic pies from early morning.
At the heart of it all are Diego, Yuli and their small team, who’ve helped make this little shop a true village favourite – the kind of place where locals grab their daily bread, wedding parties stock up on sweets, and road trippers between Sydney and Canberra happily plan their stop around one more pastry.

Anton & Mark Balog
Artemis Wines is a family-run winery and distillery in Mittagong, where winemaker brothers Anton and Mark Balog have been crafting cool-climate wines since 1996 – the first to plant Pinot Noir in the Southern Highlands and now known as the region’s “Pinot Noir pioneers.”
Set among rolling vines and recycled River Redgum, their rustic cellar door is a relaxed spot to settle in for a tasting of their highly regarded wines and small-batch spirits, linger over wood-fired pizza and local produce.

Connie & Will
Mussett Farm Holdings is a family-run small farm in Colo Vale, founded in 2016, Will and Connie wanted to help their children understand where food comes from. They focus on sustainable, regenerative farming that supports the land, their animals, and the local community. By balancing crops and livestock, they build healthy nutrient cycles without using pesticides or herbicides.
